Elegant simplicity was the inspiration for this project: a bespoke kitchen featuring a long run of drawers and wall mounted cupboards as well as a bank of taller units and an island with integrated breakfast bar.
In order to preserve the minimal aesthetic and showcase the effect of the dark grey spray finish, the entire project was designed to function without visible handles. Instead, custom-made solid oak moldings were recessed into the birch plywood cabinet walls in order to create hidden edges from which to open the drawers and doors.
Furthermore, the doors and drawer fronts on each side of the island were produced to meet as a mitred joint when closed; a small detail but crucial to continuing the kitchen’s striking uniformity.
These details can be seen elsewhere too. The wall units are finished with an oak veneer to match the drawers and moldings, whilst all of the hardware throughout the kitchen was selected from Blum’s Onyx range which, being anodized grey, is the perfect complement to the dark grey spray finish used on the doors and drawers throughout the space.
