For this project we upgraded an existing kitchen; installing new doors on older, shop-bought carcasses and designing a matching bespoke, 3.6m long bench seat with additional storage behind sliding doors.
We used clear-lacquered, grain-matched birch ply doors with minimal furnishing to give the large bank of cupboards and drawers an uninterrupted, low profile look. The base units feature unobtrusive brushed steel handles whilst the wall mounted units have discrete handles integrated into the bottom edge of each door.
The base units are topped with a striking dark concrete worktop moulded and fitted by Kelham Island Concrete.
The bespoke bench was designed so that the seat height and backrests are set perfectly flush to the window cils, incorporating the bench into the room without blocking out any light. We used a thicker 25mm birch ply for the bench unit, giving it increased structural integrity as well as a more substantial, solid look to complement the wall of units opposite.
